Many creators have a great product but are neglecting these three simple strategies to send audiences racing to buy. If you have a fan base and at least one great product, add these three things to your YouTube videos, podcasts or blog posts today.

1. Add links in the descriptions of your most popular videos.

Check the stats and find your ten most popular videos, podcast episodes or blog posts. Look for evergreen topics; i.e. the information doesn’t date, and they are still getting significant traffic.

Add a link to the sales page of your most relevant product in the video or podcast description. Some viewers will be so excited by your content they’ll buy immediately.

Go a step further and add a link to your newsletter or lead magnet too. Those who sign up may turn into superfan customers in the future once they start hearing from you regularly.

If you’re a YouTuber, you can add cards in the upper right corner of future videos too, and send people straight to your product sales page.

2. Add shout outs on a regular basis.

Don’t leave all your promotion spots for outside sponsors. Instead, sponsor yourself by adding a shout out at least once a month.

An effective shout out begins with a hook to entice the customer then follows with the deal. Here’s an example:

Hook: In this video, I’ll teach you everything you need to know about Russian cases, but first, I have a special announcement.

Shout out: I know that many of you have been struggling with Russian grammar, but it’s easier if you know how it works. That’s why I designed my (name of course… etc.) And because you’re a loyal fan of my YouTube videos (podcast/blog), I’m giving away coupon codes. Make sure you check out the link in the description today.

Coupon codes give customers the feel-good rush of a bargain, and it can be amazing to see how many more people buy through this easy-to-implement strategy.

3. Add regular calls to action at the end of every video.

Don’t let your fans wander away afterwards — give them something positive to do. A Call to Action or CTA can make all the difference to your sales.

CTAs vary. You can send people to other relevant content or suggest they check out your freebie. But at least one in four times, your call to action should be to click the link to your product in the description.

It’s important to do this regularly, so add a column in your content calendar detailing the CTA you’ll add in each video, etc.,  from now on.

Persuasive copywriting is essential

People will only click through if they understand how good your offer is, so pay attention to the quality of your copywriting.

If you need to improve your skills, Ray Edwards’ book “How to Write Copy That Sells” has some easy-to-implement suggestions, including using the PASTOR framework.

Effective CTAs benefit from the first three steps.

Example: “Are you struggling with Russian grammar? I know it’s tough because most of my students battle with it. Wouldn’t it be nice to speak Russian fluently without struggling with grammar all the time? I have designed a free masterclass where you’ll learn everything you need to get your cases right and never make another mistake. Make sure you click on the button below to get access now.

To Sum Up

  1. Add links to your courses and newsletter in the descriptions of your most popular, evergreen content.
  2. Sponsor yourself and do monthly shout outs offering coupons and deals for your products
  3. Add CTAs onto the end of your new videos.
  4. The better your copy on all these things, the more results you’ll get.

These are the simple steps that we at Creator Smarts use with our clients. Go ahead, try them today and prepare to be amazed at the results.
